Olivero named RSC POTW for the fifth time
MIDWAY, Ky. - Though the year has changed, there was a strong sense of sameness when the River State Conference announced its first Women's Tennis Player of the Week recipient on Monday.
For the fifth time in her college career, the honor went to Midway sophomore Agustina Olivero, who earned it after a 2-1 week at both doubles and singles.
After shaking off losses to nationally ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) last Sunday, Olivero bounced back with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Milligan's Kylie Enarson and a 6-1, 6-1 win over Emory and Henry's Kira Turpin, both matches coming at No. 1 singles.
She also rebounded from the Cumberlands loss at No. 1 doubles, where she and partner Mara Guillen won 6-1 against Milligan and 6-3 against Emory and Henry.
Olivero enters the week with an overall record of 4-1 in doubles play and 3-1 in singles.
She and the Eagles are scheduled to host two home matches against in-state opponents this week. They will face Centre at 4 p.m. Thursday before a matchup with 16th-ranked Union College Saturday.
