Midway's Blanchard wins second Swimmer of the Week award

MIDWAY, Ky. - For the second time in his Midway career, Brad Blanchard has been honored as the Mid-South Conference's Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Blanchard was announced as the award's winner on Monday after securing one first and two second-place finishes at a weekend triangle meet against Transylvania and Pikeville. He won the 50-yard butterfly in 25.96 seconds and was also part of relay teams that were runners-up in 200 medley and 200 freestyle.

The junior from Lafayette, Ind. is Midway's first multi-time Swimmer of the Week winner, also claiming the award during his freshman season in 2020. His win marked a great day for Eagle swimmers from the Hoosier State, as North Manchester-native Josie Briner also won the women's award.

Blanchard and the Eagles have a big weekend ahead, as they travel to Kingsport, Tenn. for the Mid-South Conference Championships on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
