Men's tennis loses on road to top-25 RSC foe
OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Twenty-fifth ranked Oakland City lived up to its national ranking Saturday, as the Mighty Oaks handed the Midway men's tennis team its first conference loss of the season by the final of 7-0.
With both teams coming in undefeated in River States play, the defending conference champion Oaks didn't drop a set and lost more than three games just twice in singles play.
Midway's best performance came from the No. 1 doubles team of Axel Sperling and Izan Casado, who lost 7-5 to the OCU duo of Francisco Perez Esnoal and Jose Andres Perez Perez.
German Collado and Aditya Roy Chowdhury had the most competitive showings in singles play for Midway. Collado lost to Christian Salmeron 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4, with Chowdhury losing 6-4, 6-1 to Sebastian Bahamondes at No. 5.
Now 3-1 in the RSC and 7-7 overall, the Eagles are set to face in-state, non-conference rival Georegtown at home Tuesday at 3 p.m.
