Kenny Mason begins his third season as head coach of the wrestling program at Midway University in 2024-25.
In two years with the Eagles, Mason has coached Kyler Adams (twice at 141 pounds), Brent Hudgins (157), Byron Pierce (heavyweight) and Kaleb Clark (149) to appearances at the NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships.
Mason took the reigns of the Eagles wrestling program following a one-year stint at Brewton-Parker College where he was named the head coach in August 2021.
During his lone season, Mason led the Barons to a top 25 finish at the NAIA Men’s Wrestling National Championship where they finished 22nd out of 62 total teams in attendance.
During their run at the NAIA National Championship, Mason had two wrestlers that earned All-American honors with a top-eight finish in their individual weight class. In total, the Barons boasted three national qualifiers and three All-Mid-South Conference members.
Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks with the Barons, Mason served as an assistant coach at Colquitt County High School. During his four seasons, he assisted in turning the wrestling program into one of the best in the state of Georgia.
In 2021, they finished third at GHSA 7A State Duals which marks the program’s first-ever placement in the state duals. The program also garnered a fourth-place finish at the GHSA 7A State Tournament which was the highest team finish in program history.
In total, Mason helped guide the Colquitt County High School program to 35 state qualifiers and 11 state placers. They also had two state runners-up and two state champions.
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Mason enjoyed a successful wrestling career at Emmanuel College where he was part of the 2016 & 2017 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NCWA) National Championship Team. He also was an NCWA All-American in 2017 when he also captured the Manuel Gorrarian Award for the most falls at the national tournament.
Mason graduated from Emmanuel obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2017.
