Women's Tennis wins 8-1 at Hanover
HANOVER, Ind. – Just one day after earning its first win of the campaign, the Midway women's tennis team returned to the courts for a non-conference match at Hanover (Ind.). Surrendering only three games in the top three singles positions, the Eagles soared to an 8-1 win over the Panthers.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 2-6 for the year while Hanover falls to 5-9.
In doubles play, the duo of Agustina Olivero (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Mara Guillen (Madrid, Spain) cruised to an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 position. The teams of Ana Larreal (Maracay, Venezuela) and Isabella McKinney (Paducah, Ky.) and Grace Froedge (Louisville, Ky.), and Jasmin McClenahan (Weslaco, Texas) picked up 8-4 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to give the Blue and Gold a 3-0 lead entering singles play.
At the No. 1 position, Olivero claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win while Guillen won in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 slot and Larreal achieved the scoreline at No. 3. McKinney earned a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 and Froedge closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
Midway women's tennis returns to the courts on Monday, March 20, when it hosts Campbellsville (Ky.) at the Falling Springs Tennis Center in Versailles. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
