Booth earns fixed pin runner-up finish at 3D Nationals.
FOLEY, Ala. - Carrie Booth overcame bad weather and a talented field to earn a national runner-up finish in the fixed pin college women's division at the USA Archery 3D Collegiate National Tournament.
The two-day event was heavily reshuffled after a persistent rain storm on Friday, with individual competion wrapping Saturday afternoon.
Competing against Hannah Summers, a multi-time national champion from the University of the Cumberlands, Booth actually finished in a tie for the event's top score, both shooters finishing with a two-round tally of 410.
But because Summers recorded 16, 12s scores to Booth's 10, she was awarded the national title on a tie-breaker.
Though narrowly missing the top prize, Booth was able to earn the best finish ever achieved by an Eagle at a USA Archery Tournament, since the organization took over collegiate competitions in 2019.
She was one of two Eagles to finish in the top-10. In the barebow college women's division, Emily Phillips tied for 10th with a two-round score of 286.
Carrie wasn't the only Booth to place in the top-20 in women's fixed pin. Younger sister Kelli Booth finished in 14th with a 385.
The Booths and Jessica Badgett also just narrowly missed medaling in the fixed pin team round. The trio finished fourth in the 11-team field with a final score of 1,141.
Midway has no new events scheduled until January, when it will take part in the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships.
