Western team opens year with dominant showing at Morehead State Shows
MOREHEAD, Ky. - A total of eight riders combined for 11 first-place finishes, and the Midway Western Equestrian team opened the season with a bang over the weekend, finishing as the High Point Team on both days of the Morehead State Shows, Sept. 23 and 24.
Jordan Schauer proved to be the star, being named High Point Rider on both Saturday and Sunday. Schauer was first in open reining and second in open horsemanship Saturday before taking first in both events Sunday.
Two horsemanship wins also put a pair of Eagles into the Regional Championship Show. Sadie Tullock qualified in level-one Saturday, which Chase Summerville doing so in level two Sunday. Summerville also took home a win in level-two ranch riding on Saturday.
Elsewhere Nolan Jones took a first-place finish in beginner horsemanship, while Hannah Mullins, Payton Seog, Stacey Geissler and Ella Eldridge all finished first in rookie horsemanship.
