Hunt seats nabs Reserve High Point score, five regional qualifiers at Morehead
MOREHEAD, Ky. - After nearly three months out of competition, the Midway Equestrian Hunt Seat team came back strong, coming out of the Morehead State Shows with five regional qualifiers and a Reserve High Point Team score on Sunday.
The Eagles earned Reserve High Point honors Sunday, with Jessica Covey gaining Reserve High Point Rider designation. Midway is currently eight points behind Miami (Ohio) University for the region's top score.
Covey reached regionals in limit flat, where she was one of three Eagles to earn a first-place finish in the event Sunday, joined by teammates Cassandra Duecette and Reese Dorsey. Covey also had a great weekend in intermediate over fences, placing first Saturday and second Sunday.
Other regional qualifiers were Abbie Wright in open flat, Elliette Baker in open fences, Halley Moak in intermediate flat and Riley Whelan in limit flat.
Whelan also ended the weekend with a first-place finish, as she and Mary Helen Hickey both came out on top in limit over fences.
Dorsey was able to take top honors in Saturday's limit over fences competition as well.
The Eagles will return to action in two weeks when they host the Midway University Shows on Feb. 24-25
