Hunt seat wins reserve high point honors on day one of Miami Shows

OXFORD, Ohio - Midway's hunt seat equestrian team took part in the Miami University (Ohio) shows on Saturday and Sunday, concluding the first day as reserve high point team.

Individually, the Eagles had three first-place and six second-place finishes for the weekend.

SATURDAY

The top finish on day one came courtesy of Nozomi Yonezawa, who came in first in the novice division.

Runner-up finishes were earned by Reese Dorsey in intermediate open fences and Abbie Wright in open flat.

Midway also had third-place finishers in novice (Ella Hutcherson), intermediate open fences (Josephine Rodriguez-Thomas) and open flat (Zoe Macbeth), as well as limit over fences (Rodriguez-Thomas), intermediate flat (Jessica Covey) and introductory (Emily Sue Watts).

SUNDAY

Macbeth and Sue Watts earned first-place finishes on the second day of competition, Macbeth winning in open flat, Sue Watts in introductory.

Second-place went to Dorsey in intermediate over fences, Riley Whelan in limit over fences and intermediate flat and Wright in open flat.

Third-place honors went to Abbie Wright in open over fences, as well as Mary Helen Hickey and Sydney Wright, who tied for the honor in limit flat.

Hunt seat's next two events will be at home, starting with a two-day show on Nov. 16-17.
