Esports roundup: League of Legends comes out strong as Eagles go 2-2 in opening week

MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway's most experienced team came out in mid-season form to highlight an up-and-down opening week for the Eagle Esports program.

Fresh off a Southeast Region Championship win last spring, the League of Legends team opened the new season with a 2-0 win over Boston College B on Tuesday night.

League of Legends brought back its entire roster from a season ago, in which it reached the second round of the Navigators bracket of the NECC national tournament.

Call of Duty also earned an opening-week win via forfeit against the University of Frazier Valley Cascades.

Playing with a completely revamped roster, Rocker League, which also won a conference title last winter, lost a tight opener 3-2 to the Highland Community College Scotties Blue Thursday.

Debuting on Friday night, Overwatch suffered a 3-0 loss to Carthage's Firebirds Black team.

All four teams will be back in action next week.

League of Legends will play St. Lawrence on Tuesday.

Rocket League and Call of Duty will both play Thursday against Arkansas State Mountain and the University of Texas Permian Basin respectively.

Overwatch will take on St. Ambrose Friday.
