Eagle men compete in a pair of MSC tournaments

SMYRNA. Tenn. - Midway took part in two Mid-South men's bowling tournaments over the weekend, placing 15th in the Greater Nashville Open Saturday before making a significant improvement with a seventh-place finish at the Brandon Burns Memorial Invitational Sunday.

The Eagles actually had the fourth-best score of the team round with a 4,057 and finished with a 1,444 in baker play for a final tally of 5,501.

Midway was led by Logan Tincher and Charlie Smith, who finished just one spot apart in 20th and 21st place. Tincher knocked down 853 pins, three more than Smith.

Elsewhere, Ryan Tuite jumped out to a fast start with a 238 in the first game, eventually finishing with a four-round score of 827, placing 32nd.

The most impressive individual round came from the junior varsity ranks, where Maddox Worthington rolled a 279 in his third game, which tied for the best single game of any player in the entire tournament.

Worthington finished 42nd overall with a four-game score of 803.

Jackson Ryan came in just outside the top-50 in the almost 200-man field, rolling a 783 to finish 51st.

GREATER NASHVILLE OPEN

The Eagles scored 3,780 in the team round and 1,342 in baker, getting an accumulative score of 5,122.

Smith started his weekend strong as well, topping 200 pins in all four game to finish in 17th with an 858.

Tuite placed 23rd with an 823 while Logan Shaner led the JV squad with a 35th-place score of 802.

Midway is right back at it next weekend, traveling to the Bowlero Southern Classic in Maretta, Ga. on Saturday and Sunday.
