Wright, Logan earn freestyle wins in men's swim dual at Shawnee

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - Jalen Wright and Jack Logan both earned freestyle victories to lead the Midway men's swimming team in a 166-60 dual loss at Shawnee State on Saturday.

The event was originally scheduled to feature West Virginia Tech as well, but the Golden Bears pulled after bad weather made it difficult to travel.

Wright had a top time of 58.53 seconds in the 100-meter race, finishing just 0.11 seconds in front of Shawnee State's Alex Ray.

Logan also won a photo finish in the 400 free. He swam a 4:51.12 to narrowly edge the 4:51.49 swim of Enrique Rosado Lara.

The Eagles also came away with three runner-up finishes.

Bradley Blanchard finished the 200 free in 2:16.75, less than a half-second behind Roado Lara. In the 100 breaststroke, Jacob Williams took second in 1:13.95.

Then, in the 400 freestyle relay, Blanchard, Daniel Maia, Luca Falcao and Wright were the runners up in 4:04.31.

Midway returns to competition next weekend, traveling to Lexington to face Transy and Pikeville at 1 p.m.
