Several program records fall as men's swimming competes in MSC Championships
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Midway set new program-record marks in 13 events during the three-day Mid-South Men's Swimming Championships, which concluded on Saturday.
The Eagles finished sixth as a team with 211 points. University of the Cumberlands won handily with 958, well ahead of the 630.5 scored by runner-up Lindsey Wilson.
Relay teams accounted for three program records, including the weekend's first event, where Jalen Wright, Brad Blanchard, Luke Logan and Daniel Maia took fifth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:31.75.
Wright, Maia, Blanchard and Jacob Williams also set a new mark during a seventh-place, 1:40.36 swim in the 200 medley, while Wright, Blanchard, Jack Logan and Luke Logan closed out day two with a sixth-place finish of 7:50.53 in the 800 free.
Fresh off of being named the conference's Swimmer of the Week, Blanchard also set program records in the 50 and 100 butterflies and 200 freestyle. He hit the wall in 25.30 in the 50 fly, 54.41 seconds in the 100 fly and 1:56.03 in the 200 free.
He also had the best individual finish of the weekend Saturday, placing third in the 200 fly in 2:01.05.
Wright and Maia also set multiple individual records; Wright in the 50 (22.91) and 100 (50.28) freestyles, Maia in the 200 individual medley (2:07.42) and 50 backstroke (26.28).
Other records were set in the 500 free by Jack Logan (5:12.43) and Jacob Williams in the 100 breast (1:00.36) and Luke Logan in the 400 IM (5:00.90).
