Men's tennis team handles IU Southeast in RSC-opening win
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. - Midway had a successful start to River States Conference play on Sunday, topping Indiana Southeast 5-2 in a match that was made up after being initially postponed due to weather on Friday.
The Eagles started fast with a clean sweep of doubles. Both the No. 1 team of Izan Casado and Axel Sperling and the No. 2 team of Daniele Trentin and Owen McCarter won by the score of 7-5, while Daniel Pinzon and Aditya Roy Chowdhury coasted to a 6-1 win at No. 3.
Trentin and Roy Chodhury were victorious in singles as well. Trentin won 6-1, 6-1 over Camden Jones at No. 2, with Roy Chodhury defeating Miguel Sampaio 6-4, 7-6 at No. 3.
German Collado and Tyler Fox got straight-set victories in the fourth and sixth spots as well, with Collado defeating Keith Asplund (6-4, 7-5) and Fox topping Eric Whitehouse (6-4, 6-3).
Midway returns to RSC play with two matches next weekend, but will first host in-state, non-conference opponent Asbury at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
