Eagles fall to Oakland City in RSC Championship rematch
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Twenty-fifth nationally ranked Oakland City solidified itself as the undisputed men's tennis power of the River States Conference, topping Midway 4-0 in the title match of the RSC Championships Friday.
The Mighty Oaks, who have now won three consecutive conference tournament titles, needed less than 15 minutes to clinch the doubles point, winning 6-0 at No. 2 and 6-1 at No. 3.
They then got the clinching points at singles positions No. 1, 2 and 4, losing just seven games in the three matches.
Midway's best outcomes came at the unfinished fifth and sixth singles positions.
After losing the opening set 6-2, Aditya Roy Chowdhury beat Sebastian Bahamondes 6-1 in the second set and won the the lone game the duo completed in set three at No. 5.
At No. 6, Izan Casado defeated Samarbir Singh Sidhu 6-2 in the opening set. The pair was tied 2-2 in set two when the match concluded.
The Eagles finished the 2024 season with a record of 10-10. They've reached the RSC title game in each of the last two seasons.
