Coleman takes runner-up to lead Eagles at Western Shootout
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In a field of nearly 200 bowlers, Maggie Coleman came out in second place to lead the Midway women's bowling team at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout.
At the two-day tournament that concluded on Sunday, the Eagles placed seventh in the 23-team field. They had a score of 5,702 in the team round and 3,016 in baker for a final tally of 8,718.
After a sluggish start in game one, Coleman eclipsed 200 pins in each of her final five, topped by her 257 in game four.
Her final score of 1,321 and average of 220.2 was second only to the 1,336 and 222.7 rolled by Sara Ritchie of Rocherster (Mich.).
Elsewhere for Midway, Arianna Peter came in just outside the top-25, placing 26th with a 1.179 pins and a 196.5 average.
Afton Lords landed in the top-40 as well, finishing 38th with 1,142 pins and a 190.3 average.
Next up for Midway is the start of Mid-South Conference competition. The Eagles will travel to Smyrna, Tenn. for the Brandon Burns Memorial Tournament on Oct. 26 and the Music City Invitational Oct. 27.
