Eagles narrowly take second in preseason RSC women's golf poll

MIDWAY, Ky. - Little movement is expected atop the River States Conference women's golf standings in the 2024-25 season.

After finishing in the top-two positions in the last six RSC Championships, Indiana East and Midway unsurprisingly earned positions Nos. 1 and 2 in a preseason coach's poll released by the conference Monday afternoon.

The Red Wolves, who've won the last three RSC titles, earned 58 vote points. The Eagles, who won five-consecutive conference titles before finishing second at the last three the River States Championships, were right behind at 57.

IU East earned four of nine first-place votes while Midway got three. Third-place St. Mary of the Woods got 47 points and one first-place vote. The other first-place vote went to projected sixth-place finisher Rio Grande.

The Eagles opened the year in record-setting fashion at the University of Northwestern Ohio Fall Invitational over the weekend. They had the best one-, two- and three-round team scores in team history, while Maryssa Phillips set the same records on the individual side.
