Women’s Tennis Takes on No. 21 Ranked Campbellsville

VERSAILLES, Ky. – On Monday, the Midway women's tennis team returned to the courts for a non-conference showdown with No. 21 ranked Campbellsville (Ky.). While the Eagles claimed victories at No. 1 doubles as well as No. 1 and No. 6 singles, the visiting Tigers claimed a 5-2 victory.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 2-7 for the year while Campbellsville improves to 10-5.

In doubles play, the pairing of Agustina Olivero (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Mara Guillen (Madrid, Spain) earned a 6-3 win at the No. 1 position. Unfortunately, the Tigers claimed identical 6-1 victories at No. 2 and 3 doubles to claim the point.

In singles action, Olivero completed an undefeated day with a 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 1 position. The Eagles also picked up a victory at the No. 6 position when Grace Froedge (Louisville, Ky.) earned a 6-3, 7-5 straight-set win.

Midway women's tennis returns to the courts on Friday, March 24 when it hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) at the Lexington Tennis Club. First serve is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
