Women's Tennis sweeps Celtics
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Playing on its third "home court" this week, the Midway women's tennis team welcomed Carlow (Pa.) to the Top Seed Tennis Club for a dual match. The Eagles cruised to a 7-0 victory while dropping just four games in nine matches.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-7 for the season while Carlow falls to 0-3 overall.
In doubles play, the duo of Agustina Olivero (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Caitlin Wright (Flora, Ind.) set the tone for the morning with a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Midway also won two remaining doubles matches by 6-0 scores with Ana Larreal (Maracay, Venezuela) and Isabella McKinney (Paducah, Ky.) claiming the win at the No. 2 slot while Grace Froedge (Louisville, Ky.) and Jasmin McClenahan (Weslaco, Texas) did so at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Olivero and McClenahan won their singles matches at the No.1 and No. 4 positions by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Larreal claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 while McKinney won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 slot. Froedge earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles while Wright picked up a default win at No. 6.
Midway women's tennis hits the road on Tuesday, March 28 when it faces off with Pikeville (Ky.). First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m ET.
