Warriors Defeat Eagles 6-1

VERSAILLES, Ky. – The Midway women's tennis team returned "home" to the Falling Springs Tennis Center on Thursday for a non-conference match against Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho). While two-time reigning River States Conference Player of the Week Agustina Olivero (Montevideo, Uruguay) completed another undefeated day, the Eagles suffered a 6-1 loss to the Warriors.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 4-9 overall while Lewis-Clark improves to 12-10 for the year.

In doubles action, the duo of Olivero and Mara Guillen (Madrid, Spain) earned a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 slot. Unfortunately, the Warriors picked up 6-2 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take the doubles point.

In singles play, Olivero picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win to complete her undefeated day.  In other singles action, Grace Froedge (Louisville, Ky.) forced a first-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (3), 6-2 at the No. 5 position while Guillen lost 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Midway women's tennis returns to RSC play on Saturday, April 1 when it travels to Richmond, Indiana for a match with IU East. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. E.T.
