Women's Tennis suffers first RSC loss to Mighty Oaks

VERSAILLES, Ky. –  On Saturday afternoon, the Midway women's tennis team hosted Oakland City (Ind.) in a River States Conference dual at the Falling Springs Tennis Center. Despite undefeated days by Agustina Olivero (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Mara Guillen (Madrid, Spain), the visiting Mighty Oaks earned a 5-2 win.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 5-10 overall and 2-1 in RSC action while Oakland City improves to 10-9 overall and 4-0 in league play.

In doubles action, Olivero and Guillen picked up a 7-5 win at the No. 1 slot. Unfortunately, the visitors earned wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to earn the doubles point.

In singles play, Olivero completed an undefeated day with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 1 slot while Guillen cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 position. Oakland City, however, clinched the match with wins in the remaining four singles matches.

Midway women's tennis will return to the courts on Tuesday, April 11 when it travels for a non-conference match with Georgetown (Ky.). First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. E.T. at the Lackey Tennis Center in Georgetown, Ky.
