Women's tennis sweeps Emory & Henry

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Midway women's tennis team successfully snapped a two-match winning streak, earning themselves a 4-0 neutral site win over Emory and Henry (Va.) Tuesday.

The Eagles started the day by earning the double's point with relative ease, as Agustina Olivero and Mara Guillen won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Nana Hishida and Paula Rueda won 6-2 at No. 2.

Olivero then easily earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kira Turpin at No. 1 singles. Guillen had a much tougher time in her No. 2 singles match against Natalie Bergman but came out on top of a marathon 12-10 third-set after the two traded 7-5 wins in the first two.

The victory was then clinched at No. 5 singles, with Grace Froedge defeating Karlie Quinn 6-3, 6-3.

Midway, which had a scheduled Saturday home matchup with Pikeville get postponed, will take on Hanover (Ind.) at the Falling Springs Tennis Center in Versailles next Wednesday.
