Olivero and Guillen make All-RSC First Team, eight players earn conference recognition

MIDWAY, Ky. - Agustina Olivero and Mara Guillen earned First-Team All-Conference recognition by the River States Conference for the second year in a row, while six other Midway women's tennis players were also honored by the league Monday.

Olivero was a steady presence playing exclusively at No. 1 positions all season. She finished the season at 12-2 in singles and 13-4 in doubles.

The sophomore from Montevideo, Uruguay cleaned up on Monday, also making the Scholar-Athlete Team while being selected as Midway's Champion of Character.

As she was all year on the doubles court, Olivero was joined on the First Team by Guillen, who partnered with her for all 13 of her doubles victories. Guillen also put together an 8-6 record in singles play, seeing time at three different spots.

Playing primarily at No. 3 singles all year, freshman Nana Hishida made the RSC Third Team.

Hishida came up big in the River States Tournament, winning 6-1 with Isabella McKinney at No. 1 doubles then winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles in a semifinal win over Indiana East. This helped send the Eagles into the tournament's championship round for the second year in a row.

Guillen also made the Scholar-Athlete Team, as did McKinney, Caitlin Wright, Grace Froedge, Jasmin McClenahan and Raigan Allbert.
